The hustle and bustle of the city can sometimes become too much. In instances like these, you need an escape, somewhere outside the concrete walls that start to feel almost claustrophobic. Fortunately, Baltimore offers plenty of options for escape. Here are some of the best parks in Baltimore.

Druid Hill Park

Druid Hill Park ranks with Central Park in New York City and Fairmount Park in Philadelphia as one of the United States’ oldest landscaped parks. Not only does this park have historical appeal, but you can also visit the Rawlings Conservatory and Botanic Gardens, a hiking trail, disc-golf course, a public pool, and even the Maryland Zoo. If you’re looking for a place to escape for a day, check out the 745-acre Druid Hill Park at 3100 Swann Drive in Baltimore.

Patterson Park

In the summer, you can escape to Patterson Park for a boat ride on the lake, and in the winter, you can go ice skating. There’s plenty of room for your kids to play, and Patterson park even hosts children’s sporting events such as swimming, soccer, and even tennis clinics. Not only that, but while attending Patterson Park, you can also get a peaceful view of the Harbor. The park is located at 27 South Patterson Park Avenue.

Federal Hill Park

If you’re looking for a place to bring the kids, then check out Federal Hill Park. A large playground at the top of the hill, as well as the hills themselves, present plenty of opportunities for your kids to have fun. Not only is Federal Hill Park perfect for kids, but it’s also a significant part of Baltimore history. The citizens of Baltimore gathered at Federal Hill to celebrate the ratification of the Constitution and also used the hill as a look-out during the Civil War.

You can find this park overlooking the entire city of Baltimore at Warren Avenue and Key Highway in Baltimore.

Carroll Park

You may know Carroll Park as the home of the German Festival, but the park also has a historic heritage as the land of an old Federal estate. The estate still stands within the boundaries of the park, as does a golf course, athletic fields, a playground, and an outdoor skating arena. The 117-acre Carroll Park is located in southwest Baltimore at 1500 Washington Boulevard in Baltimore.

Wyman Park Dell

If you’re looking for a more open space, then consider checking out Wyman Park Dell. This 16-acre park is located right in front of the Baltimore Museum of Art. This park doesn’t have any fields, pools, or courses, but instead offers open space for you to enjoy however you see fit. Wyman Park Dell also hosts free outdoor movies during the summertime. Come check out Wyman Park Dell, near John Hopkins University on North Charles Street in Baltimore.

Baltimore is a city rich in heritage and character. Its parks reflect the history and beauty of the city while offering an escape for anyone looking to get outside.
